Kenyan Human Rights Defenders share insights with students

On Monday 10 October, the MINT Research in Practice Lunchtime Conversations, in collaboration with Peace Brigades International and the Fab, hosted two Kenyan human rights defenders - Florence Mwikali and Jecinter Agunja. They shared their experiences of front line human rights work in the informal settlements and offered guidance for MINT students aspiring to careers in the field of human rights:

Florence Mwikali
If you are serious about supporting human rights defenders, empower them to continue doing their own work. They know what help they can most benefit from. Ask them.
Florence Mwikali
Project officer at Peace Brigades International (PBI) in Kenya
Jecinter Agunja
When you enter the human rights field, you must stand by the values of human rights. There are no 'ifs' and no 'buts'.
Jecinter Agunja
Human rights defender, feminist, and activist for women's and girls' rights
