The Global Governance Centre is pleased to announce the launch of the website for the research project "Chemical Crossroads: Agrarian Transitions, Pesticide Controversies and International Governance, 1940s–1970s", funded by The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and running from February 2025 to February 2028.
Led by Professors Amalia Ribi Forclaz and Corinna Unger, together with Dr Elife Biçer-Deveci, Margaux Guigal and Letizia Gaja Pinoja the project examines the history of pesticide use and the way UN organisations understood and contributed to scientific debates about the health and ecological risks of pesticide exposure in agriculture and forestry.
The new website provides an overview of the project’s aims, publications, and upcoming events. It also serves as a resource for researchers interested in the intersections between international organisations, scientific knowledge, and global environmental governance.
