The CCDP was pleased to co-host Dr. Robin Geiss, Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), together with the Human Rights, Conflict and Peace Initiative (HRCP), the Peace Building Initiative (PBI) at the Fabrique de la Paix where we explored UNIDIR’s current work and the future of disarmament research in a rapidly shifting global security landscape.
Dr. Geiss opened with reflections on the state of global security and the UN’s role within it, followed by a dynamic discussion moderated by Wenka Weber (HRCP). Students raised timely questions on policy–research interfaces, UNIDIR’s independence, AI-enabled warfare, human agency, and emerging technological threats.
Thank you to all collaborators and participants for an engaging exchange, and for staying on for the apéro.
