A Meeting in Bangui on the WHO Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR)

On 27 October 2025, Professor Delidji Eric Degila met in Bangui, his Excellency Professor Faustin-Archange Touadera, The President of the Central African Republic to record an interview on the WHO Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR).

UHPR was an initiative launched in November 2020 by Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebrayesus, Director General of WHO with a principal aim to elevate health to the top political leadership. As of today, eleven countries across the globe have engaged in the UHPR process and the Central African Republic is the pioneer African country which took part of this review, under the exemplary leadership of President Touadera and thanks to the remarkable coordination of Dr Pierre Somse, Minister of Health. 

Central African Republic benefited from the tireless support of WHO Representative Dr Marie-Roseline D. Belizaire and her team, as well as WHO UHPR Unit in Geneva. The review provided a unique opportunity to strengthen multisectoral collaboration related to health challenges, and to promote sustainable investment in health as a national priority. It also reinforced Central African Republic regional leadership in health security, supported alignment with global health strERIC ategies, and stimulated mutual learning with other African countries and beyond.
