Last week, the recently created Graduate Institute Alumni Chapter in Mexico met for the first time at “Hacienda de los Morales” in the financial heart of Mexico City.

Among the guests were Mariana Salazar, Greta Ríos, Karla Méndez, Elena Labastida Sergio Estrada, Perla Buenrostro, Gabriela Álvarez, Pedro Echeverría, Azucena Méndez, and Luis Benavides, who gave the evening's presentation.

The gathering launched a series of events where Alumni will have the opportunity to present their academic and professional achievements to their peers.

On this occasion, Luis Benavides, who holds an LL.M. and PhD from the Graduate Institute, shared his experiences as a member of the UN Expert Panel on Sudan, established by the Security Council.

Mr Benavides explained the nature of the work of the Expert Panel, as well as his personal assessment on the situation in Sudan and challenges in the region, both for the country and for the International Community.

The Chapter is looking forward to holding more gatherings throughout the year.
