New Partnership with UNCTAD

The Graduate Institute joins the United Nations agency’s Virtual Institute.

The Institute recently strengthened its ties to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development by joining its Virtual Institute, an initiative to promote teaching, research and networking in the fields of trade and development.

By joining this network, the Institute increases its potential for joint research and outreach with over 100 partner universities as well as international organisations such as the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, the International Trade Centre, the South Centre, the World Bank, and others in addition to UNCTAD.

Professor Ugo Panizza, former Economist at UNCTAD and current Deputy Director of the Graduate Institute's Centre on Finance and Development, will coordinate relations with the Virtual Institute along with Theresa Carpenter, Executive Director of the Centre for Trade and Economic Integration, and Jasmine Champenois, Head of International Programmes.

The Virtual Institute contributes support to degree programmes at universities in developing countries, provides training for academics, and is a platform for cooperation between its partners.
