To facilitate the work of the Graduate Institute’s research community, a new portal has been launched on the Research website. It aims to provide information on grants and project submissions, channels to communicate one’s findings, services and tools for PhD students, academic publications and publishing opportunities, research ethics, events and trainings, and more.
The Resarch Support portal is mainly organised around four areas:
- Grants and Fundings helps and guides researchers in selecting the right financing instrument from among the various grants and funding coming from different sources – national and international – and often linked to a specific use, such as individual grants or collective projects’ funding. It also provides advice on how to use Converis and submit a convincing grant proposal.
- Communication and Media is primarily intended for faculty and researchers who want to communicate a new research programme, publication, award or other research-related significant information, both to the internal community of the Graduate Institute and to the outside world. The Research Office, usually in collaboration with the coordinators of research centres and academic departments, can help them publish news and communicate their research through the Institute’s various media channels. It also ensures that the information piece is recorded in Converis and in the Library and visible on the Graduate Institute’s website.
- PhD Support presents a series of services designed to help PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in their research-related activities, such as identifying grants, doctoral schools and publication opportunities, and learning how to clearly explain their research. It also lists academic awards – a great opportunity to boost one’s career – and various other resources and tools.
- Academic Publications presents tools and resources offered by the Institute to meet the ongoing needs related to publication goals. It offers advice on how to find the right publisher, how to prepare a proposal and how to turn a dissertation into a book. Links to various websites dealing with major issues of academic publishing are also provided.
The new portal also provides links to the Institute’s page on research ethics, to Converis, to a Research Toolbox and, finally, to upcoming calls, trainings and information sessions.
The Graduate Institute’s research community and all interested persons are invited to visit the Research Support portal and make comments for its improvement to the Research Office.
