From April 15 to 19, the Graduate Institute Student Association Environmental Committee is hosting a series of events on campus each day to raise awareness of environmental issues.
Starting on Monday with a discussion on corporate social responsibility and natural resources with guest speakers from the private sector and academia, the week also includes a movie night and an expert discussion on biodiversity. Furthermore, the Graduate Institute’s Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES) will present itself and its work. A talk by the European Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potočnik, organised by CIES, will address the progress towards a Green Economy. Wrapping up the week, Institute student and cycling enthusiast, Simon Neumueller will host a bicycle repair workshop for those interested in travelling green around town.
The full programme for Green Week is available online.
The Environmental Committee is one of several student initiatives at the Institute. In addition to organising events, the Committee also liaises with the Institute’s administration to promote environmental initiatives such as recycling, less paper use and a more bicycle friendly campus.
