POST-DOC OPPORTUNITIES AT THE ANTHROPOLOGY AND SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Post-Doc opportunities at the ANTHROPOLOGY AND SOCIOLOGY Department

The European Research Council (ERC)**, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNFS) and the Swiss Confederation award generous grants for early-career researchers with potentially groundbreaking projects. They are awarded for up to five years. Submissions of proposal summaries, previously endorsed by one of ANSO faculty, should be sent by June 8th, 2026.

The Graduate Institute’s Anthropology and Sociology department can provide a stimulating environment for projects and is happy to support applications related to our faculty research interests.  For SNSF starting, ERC Starting, Ambizione, Marie-Curie Fellowships and Swiss Excellence Postdoc Fellowships.

  • Please check you are eligible (here) and, if so, contact a professor of the Department to request endorsement during the Spring, but no later than May 30th.
  • Once you receive the professors' endorsement, you may submit your preliminary application by email at anso@graduateinstitute.ch (up to 1000-word project summary + academic CV). The deadline for sending your application is June 8th. Make sure to include the name of the Department Professor supporting your application.
  • All candidates’ files will be discussed by the Department faculty, with a decision on projects supported to be expected by July 1st, 2026.

Please note that after the confirmation of endorsement, the candidates should work timely on their research proposals, which should be sent to the Department chair four weeks before the official deadline of the grant scheme (see here for current deadlines of different instruments).

**ERC Consolidator and ERC Advanced and other advanced career research funding are received on a rolling basis at least one month before the official deadline, please contact the Head of Department.
