International Law Professor Andrew Clapham’s widely read and authoritative books on human rights continue to reach new audiences around the world.

Clapham’s essential text “The Human Rights Obligations of Non-State Actors” has just been translated into to Simplified Chinese. In addition, the widely read and translated “Human Rights: A Very Short Introduction” was recently published in German. These texts will now be accessible to readers around the world working on the subject or subjected to human rights abuses.

The original English version of “Human Rights: A Very Short Introduction”, provides a clear and concise explanation of the role of human rights and the concept’s essential principles and foundations, has also been translated into Turkish, Korean, Swedish and Arabic.

“Human Rights: A Very Short Introduction” was published in 2007 by Oxford University Press. "Human Rights Obligations of Non-State Actors" was published by Oxford in 2006.

“Human Rights: A Very Short Introduction” was also the subject of a recently published book on Italian legal language by Silvia Alchini entitled “An Insight into the Translation of International Legal Language: A Case Study on the Language of Andrew Clapham's ‘Human Rights’”.
