Six SNSF Research Grants Awarded, a Record

Following the Swiss National Science Foundation’s (SNSF) April 2026 call for proposals, Institute professors have been awarded a record six research grants.

Following the Swiss National Science Foundation’s (SNSF) April 2026 call for proposals, professors of the Geneva Graduate Institute have been awarded six research grants, representing a record success rate of 75%. Five of those projects had previously benefited from seed funding provided internally by the Institute’s Research Committee to support researchers and professors in preparing their applications. Together, these projects represent a total funding volume of CHF 4.28 million, generating CHF 548,121 in overheads.

Across the year as a whole, no fewer than nine SNSF projects have been awarded to the Institute, for a total value of CHF 8.85 million and CHF 911,060 in overheads. With additional funding decisions still pending, the total research revenue generated by competitive research projects at the Institute is expected to exceed the annual target of CHF 10 million. These results confirm the positive momentum of competitive research funding at the Institute.

The six recently awarded projects are those of

  • Christiana Parreira: Authority on Shifting Ground: Land, Civil War, and Political Order in the Middle East
  • Umut Yıldırım: Between Corridor and Frontier: Maritime Extraction in Turkey’s Sea of Marmara
  • Yuan Zi: Justice for Sale: Does US IP Litigation Favor America First?
  • Vincent Chetail: Between Evasion and Engagement: Externalisation of Migration Control and the Evolving Meaning of International Law
  • Cédric Dupont: International Cooperation on Critical Minerals: Emergence, Legitimacy, and Public Acceptability in an Era of Geoeconomic Competition
  • Neha Mishra (together with Mira Burri from the University of Lucerne): Multipurpose Digital Trade Law
