The heart of the MINT programme consists of the Applied Research Practice whereby students work throughout the first and second semester of their first year on the Applied Research Foundations and Applied Research Projects (ARP). This gives students the opportunity to further their research skills, through academic and practical experience, and their professional experience. Via the ARPs, students are put into small groups and come together to conduct policy relevant research with partner organisations on issues related to international relations and development.
Through the ARPs, students are encouraged to work with each other and with their Faculty Leads and Partners and gain analytical and practical skill experience applied to policy relevant issues. Working under the supervision of Faculty Leads and with Partner organisations involves elaborating project terms, conducting literature reviews, designing relevant methodologies, undertaking original research, analysing data, writing analytic preliminary and final reports and presenting research findings.
In the last academic year, through teamwork, collaboration, professionalism and communication our MINT students completed 67 Applied Research Projects. These projects are exemplary of the collaborative efforts of students and months of hard work throughout the programme.
The ARP Catalogue is available for current and prospective students to explore to learn more about the ARPs and this crucial component of the MINT Programme. The ARP Repository completed in collaboration with the Institute Library is available for current students.
