The Lombard Odier Biennial Prize recognises excellence in a doctoral thesis devoted to the challenges of multilateralism. This year, four students from the Global Studies Institute (GSI) project management course contributed to the organisation of this edition of the prize.

Twelve dissertations, primarily in the field of international law, were submitted for evaluation by the jury, composed of David Chikvaidze, Pierre Allan, representing the FSPI, Professor Didier Péclard and Professor Makane Mbengue from the GSI, as well as Olga Hidalgo-Weber, who served as chair of the jury.

By unanimous decision, the jury chose to award the prize to Marzia Marastoni, who holds a doctorate in international law from the Geneva Graduate Institute. 

Her dissertation examines how international law perceives and interprets crises, focusing in particular on why certain major events are difficult to anticipate and how the international legal system adapts to such unforeseen situations.

The prize award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the themes explored in the award-winning dissertation. Details of the venue will be communicated at a later date.
