The revised and fully updated 3rd edition of the Global Health Centre’s Directory of Geneva Global Health Actors is now available online.

“The revised Directory of Geneva Global Health Actors is an excellent resource for health professionals and researchers”, Professor and GHC Director Ilona Kickbusch emphasises, “and it highlights the significant role of International Geneva in the global health landscape.”
First launched in 2009, the Directory currently covers over 90 Geneva-based organisations ranging from organisations of the United Nations to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the private sector. While 15 out of the 20 world’s most important Global Health Actors identified in 2015 by Chatham House  have headquarters or significant presence in Geneva, the city hosts a multitude of smaller entities, such as NGOs and partnerships, forming a diverse set of stakeholders.

The Directory is the earliest of its kind in mapping the many different global health actors in Geneva, and documenting their wide-ranging activities and complex interrelationships. Its distinctive value comes from its comprehensive and inter-sectoral character, with the inclusion of organisations active in a wide range of fields that have an impact on health, such as intellectual property, humanitarian affairs, human rights, and trade.

This directory serves as a practical guide for anyone interested in global health. Its purpose is to give the reader an overview of the type, scope and focus of the global health related work of each organisation listed, and guide for further information. It aims to foster cooperation and facilitate networking among the different global health stakeholders, while connecting organisations with different levels of resources and on-the-ground knowledge.

Every effort has been made to adequately reflect the work and contribution to global health of all actors listed, and to include all relevant Geneva-based actors.  The entire directory is updated annually and individual entries added as deemed appropriate.
