Agustina Becerra Vazquez is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Geneva Graduate Institute, working on Professor Paola Gaeta’s project Holding the Line: Genocide, War, and International Responsibility, hosted by the Global Governance Centre. She is also an independent legal consultant specialising in international criminal law and transitional justice.
She holds a PhD in International Law from the Geneva Graduate Institute. Her doctoral research examined truth in restorative justice and its implications for criminal justice processes addressing gross human rights violations. Her thesis received the 2026 Prize of the Société Suisse de Droit International for Best Thesis.
She also holds a Master’s degree in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and she is a qualified lawyer in Argentina.
Agustina combines academic research with legal practice and teaching experience. She has worked with civil society organisations and international experts on international criminal law and transitional justice projects. Prior to moving to Geneva, she worked at the Office of the Prosecutor of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. She worked as a teaching assistant at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and the University of Buenos Aires, Faculty of Law.
