Daniel Thornton is visiting faculty in 2026-2027 bringing more than three decades of experience at the heart of global health financing and UK government. Daniel is a visiting professor in practice in the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

He is currently supporting fundraising and strategy at several international organisations, having previously led WHO’s fundraising department and spent more than a decade at Gavi, where he served as Chief of Staff and helped establish and fund COVAX. Across these roles, he has played a central part in raising more than $27 billion for global health. His policy experience includes senior positions in the UK government, including at No.10 Downing Street, HM Treasury, and the Foreign Office.

Daniel holds an MSc in International History from the LSE and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Wadham College, Oxford.
