Before joining the Geneva Graduate Institute’s Centre for Digital Humanities and Multilateralism, Pierre-Etienne worked as Scientific Advisor at the United Nations Library and Archives Geneva.
In this role, Pierre-Etienne contributed to the Centenary of Multilateralism Project, launched to mark both the anniversary of the creation and the legacy of the League of Nations, and the LONTAD Project, a major digitization project that made the entirety of the League of Nations archives accessible online.
He has supported various research projects led by academics, in particular in the field of digital humanities. He has given presentations on conducting research using digital archives to scholars and university groups, and provided research in preparation for public events, television documentaries and outreach publications. He also collaborated on information campaigns led by various International Geneva actors.
Pierre-Etienne curated multiple exhibitions showcasing archive material held by the UN Geneva Archives and other Geneva-based UN organizations. These exhibitions were displayed at the Palais des Nations and across Geneva.
In addition, Pierre-Etienne has also selected and presented archival material to high dignitaries, diplomats, journalists, scholars and the general public. He has taken part in numerous public events and podcasts, discussing the history of the League of Nations, the evolution of multilateralism and the history of the United Nations.
Pierre-Etienne obtained a Ph.D. from the Geneva Graduate Institute and authored several articles and books. His last monograph, Genève, berceau de la Société des Nations (2022) explores the history of International Geneva at the time of the League of Nations.
