PhD Supervisor: Nicole Bourbonnais and Davide Rodogno (2nd reader)
profile
Ricardo Fal-Dutra Santos is a PhD candidate in International History and Politics at the Graduate Institute, Geneva (IHEID). His research examines the history of humanitarianism from a feminist perspective, focusing on how actors within the formal humanitarian system have engaged with and contributed to the efforts of grassroots feminist movements. He is also interested in the intersections of humanitarian principles, ethics, and politics, and hopes his work will help build stronger connections between present-day humanitarian action and feminist activism.
Before joining the Graduate Institute, Ricardo spent over a decade working in humanitarian programming and research, notably with the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, Oxfam, the International Committee of the Red Cross and BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights.
