PhD Thesis Title: Binarism in State Approaches to Sovereignty in Cyberspace

This thesis addresses the notion of sovereignty in cyberspace from two angles: National positions edited and published by States, on the one hand, and domestic legislation and manuals on cyber operations, on the other. It investigates the binary gap between these two expressions of opinio juris and practice and provides a comparative analysis of their implications. If the application of fundamental legal principles is studied in a unary approach, which has often been the case for sovereignty in cyberspace, research risks overlooking the practical hazards of violations of these principles. Hence, it remains central to conduct systematic research on this issue, which legislators and military officials face on a daily basis..
