This ARP project examines the evolving media representation of the Olympic Refugee Team surrounding the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: before, during and after. Through an analysis process of 186 media articles, the research reveals a nuanced discursive landscape shaped by humanitarian ideals, personal narratives of resilience and political sensitivities.

The research found four media frames:  1. Disrupting the Crisis, 2. Flat Frame: athlete stories, 3. Olympic Celebrity Humanitarianism: humanitarian programming 4. Olympic Celebrity Humanitarianism:stakeholders Ultimately, this paper reveals both the potential and the limitations of media discourse in shaping public understanding of refugee experiences through the lens of sport. Considering the influence of factors such as Language, regional representation, political leaning of the media, it suggests the need for future studies to explore social media dynamics and examine the long-term narratives of refugee athletes beyond the Olympic spotlight.
