This report examines how the United Nations' deepening financial and governance crisis—marked by over 3,000 job cuts in Geneva-based international organizations and the United States' unpaid USD 4 billion in dues—is reshaping International Geneva amid a broader shift in global geopolitics. Produced by swissfuture in partnership with the Geneva Graduate Institute, the research uses a strategic foresight approach to examine three international organizations (WHO, OCHA, and ITC) as anchor cases, developing three hypothesized scenarios for each covering 2026–2029 based on funding trends, governance debates, and local Geneva realities. It concludes with an aggregate analysis identifying which organizations face the greatest pressure and proposing how these challenges might be addressed to preserve the stability and relevance of International Geneva as a hub for multilateral cooperation.
