Guanqin He

Post-doctoral researcher

Guanqin He has a background in literature, media, gender and cultural studies. She recevied her BA degree in Literature at Beijing Normal University in 2019 and her MSc degree in Gender, Media and Culture at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2020. She received her PhD degree in Gender Studies at Utrecht University (2026), with her research focusing on migrant female workers in China’s gig economy.

Currently she is a postdoc in the SNSF-funded project Labor market changes and gender polarization in deindustrializing societies: Rise of anti-feminism and the politics of shame in South Korea and China.Guanqin focuses on young women and migrant workers, exploring their everyday forms of refusal through which they push back against the reproductive labor, gender norms, and prescribed life scripts expected of them in the increased competition in the labor market.
