Workshop on the “Dying Seas: The Intersection of Capital, Sovereignty, and Logistics in the Maritime Crisis

Funding Organisation: SNF Scientific Exchange
Budget: 9900 CHF

Summary:

This workshop will address the issue of dying seas. The modern marine environment is in a critical state, facing a multitude of challenges that are putting its vital systems under pressure. On the one hand, oceans are being monetised, converting thriving ecosystems into quantifiable fish supplies and financial obligations. On the other, the expansive network of global logistics is changing coastlines and sea lanes, sometimes under the banner of blue growth, but causing new forms of pollution and displacement. This workshop is based on the need for a cross-disciplinary conversation to untangle this complex web.
