Proceedings against states and individuals accused of genocide are underway at the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court respectively, for crimes committed in Myanmar, Sudan and Israel-Palestine, among others. Nonetheless, obstacles to successful prosecutions remain and, in most cases, it is likely to be some time before the courts reach a verdict.
