Women's Economic Empowerment in the MENA region

This report, developed in partnership with the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, explores the issue of women’s economic empowerment in the MENA region through case studies of Iraq, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia. Focusing on legal and policy developments since 2017 and drawing on international reporting mechanisms such as the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the study seeks to identify key barriers to women’s economic participation and to issue targeted legal and policy recommendations. These recommendations aim to support future reforms that dismantle legal and sociocultural barriers, advance gender equality, and ensure women can fully participate in the economy.
