Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
Dear Alumnae and Alumni,

As part of the Bern Chapter’s 16th annual reception, we have the pleasure of inviting our alumni, the diplomatic community and friends of the Institute to a talk by Professor Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamedou on:

Twenty Years of Terrorism and Anti-Terrorism

Two full decades have elapsed since the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. In the aftermath of these events, the world has entered a period characterised by a number of dynamics, which have persisted and significantly shaped the configuration of the global order. What is the nature of these transformations, notably the terrorism-antiterrorism environment. Ultimately, what historical meaning can we ascribe to the legacy of ‘9/11’, and what policy lessons can we draw?

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session. In addition, the Director of the Graduate Institute, Marie-Laure Salles, will give a brief presentation on the latest developments at the Institute.

Date & Place: Monday, 13 December 2021 - 18:30 | Kursaal Bern, Kornhausstrasse 3, 3013 Bern

A cocktail will follow.
Please register before 8 December.

Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamedou is Professor of International History and Politics, Executive Education Director, Chair of the International History and Politics Department and Faculty Associate at the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding and at the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy.

Marie-Laure Salles has been Director of the Institute since September 2020. Before joining the Institute, she was Dean of the School of Management and Innovation at Sciences Po Paris, a school she launched in 2016. Before that, she was Professor at ESSEC Business School, where she was also, in turn, Dean of the Faculty and Associate Dean for the PhD Programme.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards,
