The international financial crisis has confirmed that China is in a very unique position with regards to the rest of the world: China has been less affected by the financial crisis than other countries and China with its USD 1,9 Trillion in foreign currency reserves has been urged to lend a greater financial hand. This conference will explore the challenges of China's growing role in financial markets, the global economic downturn the country is facing, and the political implications of the financial crisis on China’s leadership and society. The second part of the conference will be a debate on the growing importance of Asia for Switzerland. It will explore the efforts deployed by the Swiss government in Asia, the partnership with India and the opportunities of investment in China.
The event is the Annual Conference of the Centre for Asian Studies and is organised in collaboration with the Executive Master in Asian Affairs.
