The 2021 Advancing Development Goals International Contest for Graduate Students, also known as The Geneva Challenge, invited students from around the world to devise solutions to the complex issues arising from crisis management in order to a holistic global and local development.

On the occasion of the Award Ceremony, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, will discuss the intersections between sustainable development, the climate crisis, and the pandemic recovery, especially the role that youth and universities can play as we move forward. The lecture will be moderated by Professor Martina Viarengo, Chair of the Academic Steering Committee for the Geneva Challenge.

Following the online lecture of Professor Sachs, the Jury for the eighth edition of the Geneva Challenge will announce the winners of the contest and will award the five finalist teams, one per continent, for their innovative and pragmatic solutions addressing the challenges of crisis management.

The oral presentations of the finalist teams in front of the Jury will take place on the same day from 13:30 to 16:30.
