Join us for a Q&A with Professor Jim Skea, a lead author of the most recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), at the Graduate Institute (Room S8) on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 14:30 to 16:00.
Professor Skea will share insights into the latest scientific understanding of climate change and its impacts on the planet, as well as strategies for mitigating the effects of climate change. He will also discuss the evolving role of this panel of world-leading climate scientists in supporting international climate action during this pivotal decade.
Speaker
Professor Skea has been contributing to the work of the panel for almost thirty years, most recently as Co-Chair of the IPCC’s Working Group III, which focuses on Mitigation of Climate Change, and as co-author of the IPCC 2018 Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5 °C. He is currently Professor of Sustainable Energy at Imperial College London and Chair of the Scotland’s Just Transition Commission, as well as a founding member of the UK’s Committee on Climate Change. Professor Skea is the UK candidate for Chair of the IPCC.
