As the 61st Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) convenes at a time of heightened geopolitical fragmentation, this Inspiring Peacemakers Series will hold an in-depth conversation on the need for principled leadership, renewed commitment, and strategic multilateralism as essential tools for safeguarding the reliability of human rights protections.

Focusing on Mr. Kakoma’s experience gained from Interpeace as well as his prior roles, we will engage in a dialogue on the potential paths forward in light of the HRC. Accordingly, this will also be a space for hope and insightful lessons learnt from a career in peace and diplomacy for aspiring peacebuilders.

H.E. Ambassador Peter MacDougall, Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations and the Conference on Disarmament will provide Opening Remarks as Guest of Honour.

The Inspiring Peacemakers Series is held in collaboration with, and made possible through the generous support of, the Nagulendran Philanthropy Alliance.

The event will feature a moderated discussion, a Q&A session, and light refreshments will be served afterward.
