At the end of his tenure as the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini reflects on the devastating impact of the war in Gaza on Palestine Refugees and the Agency mandated to provide them with essential services and protection in the absence of a lasting political solution to their plight. The Commissioner will discuss the future of an Agency under fierce political attack and immense financial strain, and consider how the war in Gaza, and the response of the international community, has contributed to the erosion of the rules-based order.
