Women face a unique set of challenges when carving out a path in academia. From uneven distribution of care labour, to structural barriers, to facing prejudice and discrimination – often compounded by their race, sexuality, age or class. Emerging scholarship and discussions around women’s participation in science and the challenges they face is important both in documenting the struggle and discrimination, and in providing hope for transformation.
The conversation will bring to fore some of the scholarship around women’s in science through a conversation between some of the scholars that have been producing it and the audience.
The purpose of the event will be to share and spotlight experiences from women at different stages of academic careers, reflect on the structural barriers and challenges, as well as provide a space for forging solidarity, networks and relationships among women in Swiss academia.
