The Annual Alumni Reunion Is Just around the Corner

The 2022 edition of the Alumni Reunion is jam-packed with exciting events on Saturday 17 September! Students, alumni, professors and staff can join with family or friends.

Check out the detailed programme and register here.

We are so pleased once again welcome you to the Reunion on Saturday 17 September 2022, beginning at 11:00. For the occasion, we have concocted a wonderful hybrid programme, combining the formal and festive, intellectual and emotional moments, discovery or sharing with students, and meetings or memories between alumnae and alumni.

Five years before its 100th anniversary in 2027, the Institute will inaugurate its first Hall of Fame with alumnae and alumni portraits.

Starting at 14:00, with an opening (and closing) act by opera singer and student, Lara Twerenbold (MIA, 2023), will be a discussion with some of the alumnae and alumni featured in the Hall of Fame, notably: Ms Micheline Calmy-Rey, former President of the Swiss Confederation; Ms Yan Lan, Managing Director of Lazard Bank; Mr Jacques Moreillon, former Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC); Patricia Espinosa, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; and Mr Abdulqawi Yusuf, former President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Ms Jessica Byron-Reid, Director of the Institute of International Relations at University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus, will moderate. During the discussion, panelists will revisit their stories and lifetime achievements. This is a unique opportunity for all to learn more about and recognise some of the extraordinary paths of our alumnae and alumni.

The inauguration will continue with the unveiling of the portraits. We will then host the first edition of “Look Forward, Give Back”, where we will facilitate interactions between students and alumnae-i, grouping them by professional interests. This icebreaker event will allow  students and alumnae-i to interact and build bridges with one another. To confirm your participation and help us organise participants based on professional interests and careers, please fill in this form.

Finally, we will embark at 17:45 sharp on the Simplon, the mythical boat of the Belle Epoque fleet on Lake Geneva, for a cruise during which Mr Omar Touray, Gambian Diplomat and President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will receive the “Alumnus of the Year Award”.

Registration and payment are open until 9 September.
