A Century of Impact: Geneva Graduate Institute Launches 100th Anniversary Event Series

We are pleased to announce the official launch of a series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Geneva Graduate Institute, starting this year and culminating in our centennial in 2027. These events will highlight the Institute's rich history and its impact on the international community.

Key Event

One of the key events in this series is “The Institut de hautes études internationales and Neoliberalism: Historical Perspectives” taking place on 21 May at 16:00. This event will explore how Geneva’s Institut universitaire de hautes études internationales (now the Geneva Graduate Institute) contributed to the development of neoliberalism, from the 1930s and the emergence of the “Geneva School” to the post–World War II road to Mont-Pélerin. It will also examine how this history fits into the broader trajectories of neoliberalism, helping us understand the connection between the globalism of the League of Nations and the birth of neoliberalism.

Other recent events that underscore the Institute's impact over the past decades include “Penser avec Marcel Mauss: Le religieux et le politique - En hommage à Gilbert Rist (1938-2023)”, “La Suisse et l’Union européenne,” and “Launch of the Fondation Abi-Saab pour le droit international et la justice sociale”.

Future Events

Please look forward to more events in this series, which will continue to celebrate our 100-year legacy and our ongoing contributions to the field of international and development studies.
