In a recent webinar, professors Grégoire Mallard and Stephanie Hofmann discussed the nuclear negotiations with Iran and Norther Korea.

In a recent webinar, professors Grégoire Mallard and Stephanie Hofmann discussed the nuclear negotiations with Iran and North Korea. These negotiations stand in stark contrast to one another. The Iran deal is on the brink of collapse with recent changes in the global policy discussion giving the impression that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which Iran signed, is plagued with vulnerabilities. Meanwhile recent scenes of fast-track diplomacy between North and South Korea and the frenzy of media coverage around the Panmunjom Declaration, lead some to believe that the international community can extract a better agreement from North Korea which could later serve as a model for a renewed agreement with Iran.

This recent unexpected change in approach begs for a more informed and impassionate discussion of the strengths and weakness of the JCPOA and the lessons learnt from the Iran nuclear negotiation more generally.

Join two leading experts for an in-depth discussion on the nuclear negotiations as we ask:

• What are the implications for future negotiations when current agreements are rescinded?

• What role do mediators play, is Macron messing with the playbook?

• How do the examples of North Korea and Iran compare, what lessons can we learn from the past?
