Welcome Event with CIES and EC

As part of an annual tradition, CIES co-organised a Welcome Event with the Environmental Committee to welcome incoming students to the Graduate Institute.

As part of an annual tradition, The Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES) co-organised a Welcome Event with the GISA Environmental Committee (EC) on Thursday 23rd September at Maison de la Paix to welcome new incoming students to the Graduate Institute. The event could not be organised in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so it was a pleasure to host the event once again this year.

The Welcome Event was a chance for students to learn about the Environment, Resources and Sustainability Track of the MINT teaching programme, meet professors, associated faculty and students involved in the environmental sphere, and to find out about events, activities and research on environmental topics at the Graduate Institute.

Prof Tim Swanson, CIES Co-Director and Head of the Environment, Resources and Sustainability Track, welcomed students and introduced the CIES before giving the floor to Prof Joëlle Noailly, Prof Susanna Hecht, Prof James Hollway, Prof Shaila Seshia Galvin, and Prof Imelda to introduce their research interests and courses. Prof Anne Saab, CIES faculty member and Executive Education Environmental Governance Programme Director, then briefly discussed the Executive Education opportunities at the Institute, followed by a speech by Hugo Brandam, EC President and master's student in Development Studies, who introduced the work of EC and opportunities for students to get involved.

CIES wishes all students and professors a great start to the new academic year!
