Build up your skills and knowledge
For whatever career field you choose, ensure that the graduate programme you take will equip you with the proper tools and information to help you. The Graduate Institute offers six master programmes, including five disciplinary master programmes as well as an interdisciplinary master programme, which are designed to give you a greater understanding of international affairs and development.
Think about the “where”
Location, location, location. Considering where you study can have an impact on your post-graduate career. Situated in the heart of International Geneva, the Graduate Institute is in close proximity to a number of international organisations, including the European headquarters of the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Trade Organization, but also many private sector businesses. And with that proximity comes opportunity, and point 3.
Take advantage of internships
Internships are a great way to get not only a taste of professional life, they are also a way to build your network. Our Career Services has an online job portal where they post listings of internships available to students in Geneva. In addition, if you are enrolled in our Master in International and Development Studies, you may participate in an Applied Research Project, where you will get to work with partner businesses and organisations in International Geneva.
