Melissa Coyle is a Master's Student Researcher at the Global Health Centre. She works on the FINPHARM project, a study on the impact of financialisation on global health. She is researching the clinical history of the Ebola virus. Currently, Melissa is constructing a narrative of the financial players involved in the research and development of the Ebola vaccines. Before joining the Centre, Melissa was a biomedical cancer-laboratory student researcher at Chapman University's Rinker Health Science Campus in California, USA. Her research focused on the proteins involved in breast cancer cell proliferation as well as silencing those proteins using small-molecule drug delivery. She facilitated a collaborative research project between Chapman University and Trinity College, Dublin to study the effects of protein downregulation between breast and non-small cell lung cancer cells. During this time, she also interned with the Healthcare Leadership Council in Washington D.C., at the University of California, Irvine, Medical Center, and with Harvard Medical School's Center for Global Health Delivery in Dubai, UAE.
