Yoshinobu Nagamine

Yoshinobu Nagamine is a global health strategist and partnership builder with over 20 years of experience across multilateral organisations, humanitarian crises, and diplomatic advisory roles. At Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, he has mobilised over half a billion USD from governments and the private sector, driving equitable access to vaccines and strengthening COVAX, the global procurement mechanism of COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic.  

Previously, he held senior roles at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), where he founded the Japan delegation, worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Afghanistan, launched the ICRC’s first crowdfunding platform, and led the organisation’s response during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Fukushima disaster.

Earlier in his career, he worked with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in crisis and post-conflict contexts, including Pakistan and Indonesia, and advised Japan’s Cabinet Office on peacekeeping operations. He holds a PhD from the University of Tokyo, where his research focused on engaging with the Taliban, and was recognised as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
