Nous souhaitons remercier les alumni, amis de l’Institut, collaborateurs, parents qui ont manifesté leur soutien quelqu’en soit le montant.

En tant qu’ami ou alumnus, vous pouvez contribuer au développement de l’Institut et marquer votre soutien de différentes manières :

  • en vous engageant dans les activités d’un chapitre d’alumni ;
  • en offrant vos services pour représenter l’Institut dans un salon d’étudiants ;
  • en louant ou en mettant à disposition un logement pour un étudiant ;
  • en procurant à un étudiant une place de stage ou un emploi dans votre entreprise ou votre institution.

Vous pouvez également faire un don, individuellement ou à plusieurs, pour financer par exemple

  • une bourse d’excellence (5000 CHF) destinée à attirer un excellent étudiant à l’Institut ;
  • une bourse de logement (10 000 CHF) payant la location d’une chambre à un étudiant pendant une année dans l’une des résidences de l’Institut ;
  • une bourse d’études couvrant les frais de vie d’un étudiant pendant un an (20 000 CHF) ;
  • un prix (environ 5000 CHF) distinguant un travail de master ou de doctorat de grande qualité.

Jennifer Blanke

Jennifer Blanke is former Vice President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development of the African Development Bank, where she was responsible for strategy and lending in agriculture and agroindustry, water and sanitation, and education and healthcare, as well as the transversal themes of job creation and gender empowerment.

Prior to that she was Chief Economist at the World Economic Forum (WEF), overseeing economic research and analysis.

She has also worked as a management consultant in the banking and finance sector for Eurogroup Consulting in Paris, and was a member of the Canadian Government’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth. She holds a BA in International Relations from Hamilton College, a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a PhD in International Economics from the Geneva Graduate Institute.

MARIE OWENS THOMSEN

An experienced economist and strategist, Marie Owens Thomsen has been Global Head of Investment Intelligence for Indosuez Wealth Management since 2011. For more than 20 years, she worked as a strategist and chief economist for major international banking groups. Marie holds an MBA from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and a PhD in International Economics from the Graduate Institute, Geneva. She is now Chief Economist for IATA.

CHARLES BEER

Charles Beer served for over 10 years on Geneva’s cantonal government as Minister of Public Education and Minister of Culture and Sports, and was elected its President in 2007 and 2013. Having trained as a social worker, he was Director of the Actions Unia trade union between 1988 and 2003. Currently President of Pro Helvetia, Charles Beer also serves on the Foundation Boards of Partage and of Terre des hommes. He is also a lecturer at the Haute École de travail social in Genev.

FRANÇOIS BELLANGER

Bellanger

François Bellanger is both a practising lawyer and a professor at the University of Geneva.

With 20 years experience as a practising lawyer, his main specialization is in the areas of public law, real estate, contract law and litigation.

His classes at the University of Geneva cover various areas of public law, in particular the law of construction, public procurement and the civil service, administrative procedure and disputes relating to both Cantonal and Federal Public Law.

François Bellanger has been the President of the Bar School governing board, attached to the law faculty of the University of Geneva, since January 2011.

Ghislaine Weder 
 

Weder

Ghislaine Weder joined Nestlé in 2013 where she is since 2015 Head of Economics and International Relations. Formerly, she was Senior Economist at the European Free Trade Association), Consultant for the International Monetary Fund in Geneva, and Senior Manager (Asia) at the World Economic Forum. Ghislaine Weder currently serves as member of Business at OECD and Steering Board member of the 2030 Water Resources Group and is member of several advisory/research groups on international trade and investment. She holds a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford, an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a PhD in International Economics from the Graduate Institute.

Nicolas Mougeot


Mougeot

Since 2019, Nicolas Mougeot has served as the  Head of Investment Strategy and Sustainability at CA Indosuez Wealth Management. He is also a member of the bank’s pension fund investment committee.

Prior to that, Mr Mougeot spent five years in Montreal, Quebec, as Head of Market Analysis and Portfolio Construction at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Assistant Professor of Finance at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University.

Mr Mougeot also spent 14 years in London and Paris in various research and strategy positions, including as Global Head of Equity Derivatives and Quantitative Research at Deutsche Bank, where he was ranked as the number one derivatives strategist by Institutional Investors.

Nicolas Mougeot has held teaching positions at Imperial College and La Faculté des hautes études commerciales (HEC) Lausanne, and holds a PhD in Finance from the Swiss Finance Institute. He also has an MSc in Banking and Finance from HEC Lausanne.

PIERRE PÂRIS


Paris

Pierre Pâris is an experienced banker. After completing a two-year mergers and acquisitions training programme in New York, Mr Pâris became a consultant for Bain & Company in London in 1984. In 1988, he was appointed CEO of Baring Brothers (France) and later elected Partner of the merchant bank Baring Brothers Co. Ltd. Following the Barings collapse in Singapore, Morgan Stanley appointed Mr Pâris as Managing Director and Co-head of Investment Banking for France in 1998.

He was then hired in early 2002 to serve as CEO of UBS Investment Bank (France) before being promoted in 2005 to Vice-Chairman of UBS Wealth Management, Western Europe, based in Geneva.

In 2009, out of an ambition to reshape his vision of private banking, he co-founded Banque Pâris Bertrand Sturdza, which later became known as Banque Pâris Bertrand; subsequently the bank merged in December 2021 with Rothschild & Co. Pierre Pâris is Executive Vice-Chairman of Rothschild & Co. Bank AG in Zurich and is a Director of the leading international vegetable food group Bonduelle SA, as well as of the Fondation Pâris. Mr Pâris is a graduate of EM Lyon and a holder of an MBA from the Wharton School in Philadelphia.

Les fondations de soutien 

 

L’Institut est épaulé par deux fondations de soutien qui partagent ses valeurs et ont à cœur de favoriser son développement. Elles sont dotées d’un statut d’utilité publique et font bénéficier les dons d’une exemption fiscale dont l’importance dépend de la législation nationale.

La FERIS

La Fondation pour l’étude des relations internationales en Suisse (FERIS) a été créée en 1957 par Jacques Freymond pour recueillir des capitaux qui sont gérés indépendamment de l’Institut, mais dans l’intérêt de celui-ci.

Le Conseil de fondation de la FERIS est présidé par Maria Cattaui et comprend cinq membres cooptés (Jean-Pierre Roth, Marie Owens Thomsen et Ghislaine Weder), la directrice de l'Institut (Marie-Laure Salles - sans droit de vote), deux représentants du Conseil de fondation de l'Institut (Charles Beer et François Bellanger), ainsi qu'un membre du Comité de l'Association des anciens étudiants de l'Institut (Jason Shellaby).

 

     

    The Friends of the Graduate Institute, Geneva, Inc.

    Créée aux États-Unis en 2010 afin de soutenir les projets de l’Institut, cette fondation a succédé à la FERIS America et garantit, comme son prédécesseur, la défiscalisation des dons (fondation 501 c (3)).
    Son Conseil de fondation est composé de :

    Les fondations partenaires 

     

    L’Institut a des relations étroites avec plusieurs fondations qui lui apportent un soutien extrêmement apprécié.

    La Fondation Pictet pour le développement

    La Fondation Pictet pour le développement a été constituée par Ivan Pictet, qui l’a dotée d’un capital de 25 millions CHF pour soutenir la création d’un lieu d’exposition pour la Genève internationale et l’établissement du Centre finance et développement de l’Institut, dont elle finance trois chaires occupées par les professeurs Ugo Panizza, Yi Huang et Lore Vandewalle.

    Le Centre a pour objectif de fédérer les compétences de l’Institut à l’intersection de la finance internationale, de l’économie du développement et de l’histoire financière et de donner une visibilité à un domaine riche d’avenir.

    Pierre du Bois Foundation for Contemporary History

    La Fondation Pierre du Bois  vise à susciter et à soutenir des recherches sur l’histoire du temps présent. Elle offre des bourses d’études, octroie des subsides à la recherche et aux publications et attribue le prix Pierre du Bois à la meilleure thèse d’histoire internationale défendue à l’Institut pendant l’année écoulée. Elle finance depuis 2018, conjointement avec l’Institut, la Chaire Pierre du Bois, dont le titulaire est le professeur Michael Goebel.

    La Fondation a été créée pour honorer la mémoire de Pierre du Bois, professeur à l’Institut, disparu prématurément en juin 2007.

    Les fondations Paul et Thomas Guggenheim

    La Fondation Paul Guggenheim a pour but l’attribution périodique d’un prix à un ouvrage de droit international public qui se distingue par son importance et sa qualité et émane d’un auteur dont il est le premier ouvrage marquant.

    La Fondation Thomas Guggenheim a pour but de soutenir l’histoire de la pensée économique, notamment en organisant un colloque international tous les deux ans. Elle attribue également un prix récompensant soit une contribution marquante, soit l’ensemble d’une œuvre dans ce domaine.

    Le Centre international d’études monétaires et bancaires (CIMB)

    Le Centre international d’études monétaires et bancaires (CIMB) a pour but de faciliter le débat d’idées, l’information et la recherche dans le domaine des échanges monétaires, bancaires et financiers internationaux. Sa caractéristique est de rassembler des personnes issues de trois domaines d’activité : des banquiers centraux, des banquiers privés et des universitaires.

    Ses principales activités sont des conférences publiques et l’organisation annuelle d’une conférence internationale dont les résultats sont publiés. Le CIMB a été dirigé pendant vingt ans par Charles Wyplosz, professeur honoraire à l’Institut, auquel a succédé le professeur Ugo Panizza.
