Duration: December 2014 - March 2015
Funder: Sustainable Development Solutions Network (United Nations)

The Women’s Situation Rooms are an innovative intervention developed by feminist NGOs in West Africa, seeking to turn the threat of electoral violence into an opportunity for creating sustainable democracy. They have been selected by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a network of academic experts providing input into the post-2015 development agenda, as an exemplary “solutions initiative” worthy of replication.

The Gender Centre supported SDSN by conducting a desk review of available knowledge on Women’s Situation Rooms, identifying core features and determinants of success, with an eye towards developing the outlines of a larger research proposal and a tool that will allow for the scaling up of the intervention.
