Jérôme Dorgelo is a PhD researcher in International Relations / Political Science, specialising in global multi-level governance. He holds an Advanced MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy and a BSc in Political Science from Leiden University, where his research focused on local-global governance, state-building, and sustainability. Alongside his studies, he has gained experience in project coordination, policy analysis, and science-policy dialogue at Leiden University, the Marine Stewardship Council, and other (non)governmental and research institutions.

PhD Thesis Title: Ordering Principles in Global Multi-Level Governance: Subsidiarity, Federalism, and Their Effects

With the persistence of global societal challenges, effective global governance is needed more than ever. But as traditional intergovernmental institutions are not fit for the task, alternative arrangements are rapidly gaining importance. This thesis investigates how authority is - and can be - distributed among different levels and actors in global governance, and what the effects of this distribution are for addressing global challenges.
