Recent strands of research in economic development and in international trade have focused on the role of trade and transaction costs, technological change, shocks, institutions and government policies in shaping the performance of firms that participate in international supply chains and production networks.

This workshop brings together leading researchers in the fields of international trade and economic development. The workshop will span a mix of keynote sessions and presentations of papers investigating relationships between trade and foreign direct investment, firm performance and economic upgrading, with a focus on developing countries.
