The following is a letter addressed to Fariba Adelkhah, our colleague and academic prisoner in Iran, for her third Birthday during her fight for freedom.
Chère Fariba,
Voici le troisième anniversaire que tu passes en étant privée de liberté de manière arbitraire, pour des raisons politiques qui ne te concernent en rien. Voici ton troisième anniversaire de prisonnière scientifique, que tu vas "fêter" derrière les murs d'Evin, avec tes co-détenues.
Nous avons demandé à Bilal Alami Badissi de danser pour toi. Nous lui avons soumis quelques chants ou morceaux instrumentaux dont nous savons que tu les aimes, parce que tu nous les avais envoyés. Il en a choisi un, et nous a demandé tes lieux favoris dans Paris. Il est allé danser pour toi, à l'aube, sur le pont des Arts que tu as franchi si souvent le jour et la nuit pour aller de ton bureau à ton domicile.
Nous ne t'oublions pas, et nous savons que ton combat pour la liberté scientifique est le nôtre.

Dear Fariba,
This is the third birthday that you are spending while being arbitrarily deprived of your freedom, for political motives that have nothing to do with you. This is your third birthday as an academic prisoner, which you will “celebrate” behind the walls of Evin, with your fellow prisoners.
We asked Bilal Alami Badissi to dance for you. We submitted him some songs or instrumental pieces that we know you like, because you sent them to us. He chose one, and asked us for your favorite places in Paris. He went to dance for you, at dawn, on the Pont des Arts that you crossed so often by day or by night to go from your office to your home.
We don’t forget you, and we know that your fight for academic freedom is ours.
