Sanctions and Peace Research at the Institute: Ressources and contacts

This webpage highlights diverse strands of work on sanctions at the Geneva Graduate Institute, by researchers across the Institute’s departments, programs, centers, and platforms.

Among other themes, it covers research focused on sanctions easing and lifting, assessing impact of targetted sanctions, evaluating compliance, designing verifiable, progressive benchmarks and incremental steps (e.g. delisting, asset unfreezing, exemptions) with sanctioning authorities and targets.

This unique body of research displays how sanctions can be critically studied across the full variety of academic disciplines, so as to increase awareness among multi-stakeholder communities of the historical, sociological, economic and legal complexities associated with the design, implementation and progressive lifting of sanctions across a wide range of country and issue domains.
