The Sanction and Sustainable Peace Hub highlights diverse strands of work on sanctions at the Geneva Graduate Institute, by researchers across the Institute’s departments, programs, centers, and platforms.
It also aims at hosting neutral mediation focused on sanctions easing and lifting, assessing impact, evaluating compliance, designing verifiable, progressive benchmarks and incremental steps (e.g. delisting, asset unfreezing, exemptions) with sanctioning authorities and targets.
This unique hub displays how sanctions can be critically studied across the full variety of academic disciplines, so as to increase awareness among multi-stakeholder communities of the historical, sociological, economic and legal complexities associated with the design, implementation and progressive lifting of sanctions across a wide range of country and issue domains. The hub is co-managed by Prof. Gregoire Mallard, Dr. Aurélien LLorca and Farzan Sabet.
