Institute news

The Institute’s news is published on a regular basis and selected articles are also published in a bi-monthly newsletter, The Geneva Graduate Institute News.

Subscribing to this and other newsletters will allow you to stay up-to-date with the latest news, research and events from the Institute. Globe, is the Institute’s bilingual (French and English) review. It is published two times a year, in March and October, and is also available in an online format.

Academic Calendar
The academic year is divided into two semesters.

Departmental news
Each department at the Institute is responsible for the creation and publication of its own news stories, however there are times when institutional news may touch on a specific subject related to a department. Departmental news can be found by scrolling down to the end of each department’s respective pages.

Filming and photographing at Maison de la paix
For filming and photographing within Maison de la paix, permission must be given. Contact the Head of Corporate Communications for more information. Media crews are, however, welcome to film or photograph the exterior of Maison de la paix without express consent.

Governance
The Foundation for the Graduate Institute of International Relations and Development Studies was created in 2007 to manage the Institute. It is a private foundation that receives subsidies from the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Geneva to fulfill its public service mandate. Find out more about our governance and the Foundation.

Images found on the Graduate Institute website are property of the Graduate Institute. Any reuse or copy of the images requires permission as well as photo credit. Permission may be requested via email to: communication@graduateinstitute.ch.

Languages
English and French are the primary working languages of the Institute.

Logo/name use requests
Requests to use the Graduate Institute name or logo in any way, including advertisements, marketing materials, press releases, etc, must be directed to the Head of Corporate Communications. All of the Institute’s registered marks are the sole property of the Graduate Institute and can only be used with express, written consent, given on request, including the following elements:

  1. Name and description of organization or person making the request and their relationship to the Institute.
  2. Contact details for the point person, including name, address, phone number and email
  3. Project description, including how the Institute is to be used and the intended use of the resulting material
  4. Detailed description of any requested filming or photography on the campus, including date, number of people and equipment involved.

Official name
In English the Institute is formally named:

  • Geneva Graduate Institute

Informally, the name can also be shortened to:

  • The Institute

In French:

  • Le Geneva Graduate Institute
  • L’Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement
  • Le Graduate Institute
  • L’Institut

It is not necessary to capitalise “the” when referring to the Institute.

Publications
The Graduate Institute has two in-house publications. In addition to Globe, the Institute’s bilingual review, International Development Policy is a peer-reviewed journal that promotes cutting-edge research and policy debates on global development.

Research
The research office publishes its own news, however the news does not reflect the entirety of work conducted by the Institute nor its research centres.

The Institute has nine research centres focused on a wide variety of global issues.

The Maison de la paix is easily accessed via car, bus, tram, train and air. Find how to visit us. The Maison de la paix is part of the larger Campus de la paix, where our research centres and executive education programmes are located, as well as housing.

Geolocation
The Graduate Institute is located at 46°13'14.5"N, 6°08'37.0"E.

Media parking area
The Graduate Institute has no public parking facilities, however parking can often be easily found along the Avenue de la Paix, one of the main access roads flanking the Institute.
